Air Entrained Concrete
The concrete prepared by mixing aluminium in it is called air entrained , cellular or areated concrete . In this concrete bubbles of hydrogen gas are liberated which forms cell and make the concrete cellular
In 1914, the Swedes discovered a mixture of cement , lime , water. and sand ,just like regular concrete but by adding aluminium powder . Aerated Concrete is pre-cast Concrete that is formed by distributing air bubbles throughout the material to generate the low-density lightweight material in autoclave oven. It produces a soft material that can be easily cut with a regular saw blade and drilled easily , in both residential and commercial building.
The manufacturing units shall be subject to following tests.
1. Compressive Strength Test
2. Moisture Content Test
3. Bulk Density Test
5. Shrinkage Test
Advantages of Aerated Concrete
1. Excellent thermal protection , approximately 1.25 per inch
2. The thermal conductivity is 6 to 7.5 % that of conventional concrete , making it energy efficient
3. It will have lower energy cost because it has a greater thermal resistance
4. Excellent soundproofing material and acoustic insulation
5. It blocks store and release energy over time
6. The Aerated Concrete is recyclable
7. It can be used as wall and roof panels
Aerated Concrete can be easily finished by paint, plaster , cladding , or siding materials.
